Sunday arrived, and I planned a shopping trip with my paternal aunt. Being punctual, I promised to pick her up at 6:40. With a tailor scheduled to meet me at the store, I rushed to keep my commitment. Cutting through Mumbai’s notorious traffic, I managed to arrive on time.
Unfortunately, the tailor didn’t show up, but the storekeeper assured me that my dress alterations would be taken care of. With a hint of doubt, I left the store.
My aunt suggested we grab a cup of tea, and I proposed visiting a local eatery famous for its Chola Bhatura, Samosa Ragda, and Meethi Lassi. Our mouths watered in anticipation as we navigated the chaotic traffic.
After enjoying Dahi Vada, Samosa Chaat, Lassi, and Chai, I asked the waiter for the bill. As I paid in cash, I noticed him glancing at the change. I understood his silent plea and intentionally left the ₹10 coin, which sparkled in the light.
The waiter’s eyes lit up, and his body language spoke volumes. That small gesture brought joy to both of us. In that fleeting moment, the ₹10 coin became a symbol of kindness and connection.
As I reflected on that moment, I realized that it’s often the smallest acts of kindness that can bring the greatest joy. The ₹10 coin may seem insignificant, but it represented a moment of understanding and empathy between two strangers.
In a world that can sometimes seem overwhelming and impersonal, it’s these small moments of connection that remind us of our shared humanity. So, the next time you’re tempted to overlook a small act of kindness, remember the power of a simple ₹10 coin.”
